Mera S. Matthews
Mera Matthews joined the firm in 2010. Before joining Ashburn & Mason, Mera served as a law clerk for Federal District Court Judges for the District of Alaska James K. Singleton and Timothy M. Burgess. Following her clerkships, Mera practiced for several years in the area of public criminal defense. She then developed and implemented a program to provide civil representation to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault for a local nonprofit organization.
Mera maintains a general civil litigation, criminal defense, and family law practice, and assists in the firm’s oil and gas litigation and regulatory practices. Mera is a member of the Alaska Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Alaska Bar Association's Pro Bono Service Committee.
Mera holds a Coast Guard 100 Gross Ton Master License. Mera skippered inspected passenger vessels on the waters of Kachemak Bay, including the M/V Danny J.
