Jacob A. Sonneborn began his legal career in a public interest practice in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He returned to his hometown of Anchorage to join Ashburn & Mason in 2007. He practices general civil litigation and family law and is a collaborative divorce practitioner. Jacob is an associate of the firm. Jacob has successfully represented clients in adoption and custody proceedings. He has represented numerous clients in both collaborative and traditional divorces. Jacob also maintains a general civil litigation practice. He provides advice and representation to a variety of businesses and individuals on topics ranging from property disputes to the myriad day-to-day challenges facing small business owners. Jacob also has an active pro bono practice, recently obtaining asylum for a minor from El Salvador and representing pro bono adoption petitioners.


Jacob was named one of five “future stars” among Alaska lawyers by Benchmark Litigation.


Jacob serves as co-chair of the Alaska Association of Collaborative Professionals and is a member of the Alaska Bar Mediation and Law Examiners Committees.
